By Cary Schultz

In the vibrant heart of Los Angeles, renowned interior designer Ryan Saghian weaves tales of personal identity, vibrant hues, and sleek spaces. His journey, encapsulated within the pages of his debut book, Unapologetically Chic, is one of self-expression, diversity, and the power of authenticity.

Unapologetically Chic, delves into a captivating visual exploration of design, decoration, art, and architecture. Yet, it's more than a design book; it's an intimate memoir of Saghian's experiences as a gay, Jewish, first-generation Iranian-American who overcame bullying and rejection.

Opening the pages reveals a heartening journey into Saghian's world, detailing his evolution from a teenager grappling with his sexuality and career choices, to an award-winning designer applauded by the likes of the Los Angeles Times and AD Middle East. "Interior design became my escape, a world where I felt seen and understood," Saghian confides. His passion for design ignited a drive within him, leading him to establish his design firm at an incredibly young age of 21.

With Pride Month in full swing, Saghian decided to contribute to a cause close to his heart, by pledging to donate profits from his book to JQ International. This premier LGBTQ+ Jewish organization works tirelessly to celebrate and empower LGBTQ+ Jews and their allies. Saghian's alignment with JQ stems from his firm belief that no one should have to choose between aspects of their identity. "I don’t want to have to choose between being a Jewish man and a gay man,” he admits. “I support JQ's vision of a joyful, healthy future for all LGBTQ+ Jews and our allies."

Beyond his design firm, Saghian operates Ryan Saghian Home, boasting collections of diverse home decor items. Despite his success, Saghian's commitment to self-empowerment remains steadfast. His book is a testament to his belief that anyone can achieve their dreams. “I wanted to remind people that they can do anything. You don’t have to wait for someone to offer it to you. Believe in yourself,” he states passionately.

In sharing his story, Saghian hopes to inspire others facing similar challenges. “Many fans live in places where being gay isn’t socially accepted or where a career in interior design is considered unfeasible. I hope I'm helping them by sending my messages of self-empowerment and self-expression into the world."

Unapologetically Chic is more than a book; it's a testament to Ryan Saghian's journey towards self-acceptance. It's a compelling invitation for everyone to celebrate their identities and to live unapologetically.
