A Father-Son Duo’s $2M 3D Printed Hypercar - Inside Czinger Vehicles
Written by Cary Schultz
In a recent interview, Noah Etessami spoke with American entrepreneur Kevin Czinger, the founder of Czinger Vehicles, an innovative automotive brand, about the inspiration behind the company, the father-son leadership dynamic, and what's next for the company.
Kevin Czinger was initially inspired by the SR-71 Blackbird and X-15 aircraft at a young age, which sparked his interest in designing vehicles. This passion eventually led to the establishment of Czinger Vehicles in 2019. The company is unique, as it was built from scratch, focusing on a digital manufacturing system that incorporates both hardware and software.
The father-son leadership team at Czinger, comprising of Kevin and his son Lukas Czinger, is something the founder values greatly. Lukas, an electrical engineer by training, joined the company after leaving a high-paying job in the finance industry. Over the course of six years, he went from being a junior engineer to becoming a co-founder of the brand and taking on a leadership role in divergent technologies.
In the next seven years, Czinger plans to release six different vehicle models, all pushing the boundaries of design, vehicle performance, and technology. Kevin sees Czinger as a showcase of what America can truly produce when creative individuals with the right tools can express themselves. Their flagship model, the Czinger 21C, is a $2 million hybrid hypercar with 1,250 hp, boasting Formula 1 technology and 3D-printed parts. The first deliveries of the 21C are expected in late 2023.
Czinger has already unveiled a Hyper GT four-seater and intends to limit their production numbers to maintain their exclusivity and cutting-edge performance. While they may produce some future models with an annual volume of around 10,000 vehicles, Kevin Czinger emphasizes that his passion lies in designing and developing unique, high-performance vehicles rather than mass production.
Events like the LA Auto Show play a significant role in promoting revolutionary niche automotive brands like Czinger. These platforms enable the company to showcase their innovative creations and demonstrate the potential of their cutting-edge tools and technologies.
Kevin fondly remembers the vehicles that captured his imagination as a child, including a '68 Barracuda 440 wedge he raced with his brother. Today, he focuses on bringing his innovative vision to life through Czinger Vehicles and providing the world with a glimpse into the future of automotive construction.
