Beverly Hills Headache Institute
By Thomas Fitzgerald
The Beverly Hills Headache Institute represents a pioneering approach in the treatment of headaches and migraines, seamlessly blending the precision of modern Western medical science with the holistic healing practices of traditional Eastern medicine.
This integrative methodology, spearheaded by Dr. Ravinder Singh, underscores a personalizedtreatment philosophy that targets the symptoms and delves into the root causes of headaches. Dr. Singh’s holistic view on healing encompasses the physical aspects of health as well as the mental and spiritual well-being, emphasizing a full-body wellness approach.
The institute's ethos, as reflected in Dr. Singh's statements and practices, suggests a paradigm shift from a purely medication-driven model to a more holistic, cause-oriented strategy.
“We provide individualized integrative healing, so each patient attains the power to create the life they want,” says Dr. Singh. “The total healing of the whole being leads to a healthy body, mind and soul.”
He believes that pain is a symptom of an underlying problem that cannot be solved solely by symptom management. This approach offers potential for more sustainable and comprehensive health outcomes and aligns with a growing trend towards integrating alternative therapies in mainstream healthcare.
Beverly Hills Headache Institute believes that medication is not the answer for everyone, and they search for the root cause of a particular disorder. “Too many Western-trained physicians are skeptical about Eastern traditional medicines, such as acupuncture and yoga therapy,” says Dr. Singh, who earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies. “But the success stories stemming from these traditional practices are gradually reshaping perceptions.”
Utilizing his experience and expertise, Dr. Singh authored a book on headache, Not Tonight, I Have a Headache, in which he details how we can integrate Western and Eastern medicine to pinpoint the source of the pain and control our responses to the circumstances that cause headaches.
“Despite there being so many over-thecounter headache treatments available, people still suffer from them,” says Dr. Singh. “My aim is to empower individuals with knowledge and techniques to manage their health more effectively, offering insights that bridge the gap between Eastern and Western medical traditions.”
In addition, Dr. Singh is a certified stress and wellness consultant, trained by the prestigious Canadian Institute of Stress. He believes that stress is an important cause of headaches and many other health conditions. His approach to stress aims at identifying the causes of stress, empowering patients to take charge of their lives.
Though a normal part of life, stress affects everyone from all backgrounds. Left unchecked, stress can trigger migraines and contribute to chronic pain. “We have a choice to be crushed by stress, manage it, or master it,” says Dr. Singh, who completed his neurology residency at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center/University of California at Los Angeles, where he earned the Chief Resident in Neurology position. “I believe that a chronically stressful lifestyle is responsible for up to 90 percent of medical conditions.”
Dr. Singh has a YouTube channel titled, “Ravinder Singh.” He publishes a regular online newsletter about the vicissitudes of life and is working on his second book which focuses on stress.
“My ultimate goal is helping my patients transform their life for the better,” says Dr. Singh. “My patients getting better due to my intervention is reward in and of itself.
