The East Coast's Crown Jewel of Italian Dining Sets Sail for Beverly Hills
New York's celebrated Italian seafood destination Marea is making waves with its first West Coast venture, slated to open January 16th in the heart of Beverly Hills. The restaurant, which has earned countless accolades at its Central Park South location, is bringing its signature blend of refined coastal cuisine and understated luxury to 430 North Camden Drive.
Under the steady hand of Altamarea Group's CEO Ahmass Fakahany, Marea has established itself as more than just a restaurant – it's become a symbol of modern Italian dining at its finest. The Beverly Hills location promises to maintain this legacy while embracing California's distinctive culinary landscape.
Leading the kitchen is Brand Executive Chef PJ Calapa, whose impressive résumé includes stints at Eleven Madison Park and Nobu 57. Calapa, who will oversee both locations, has crafted a menu that cleverly bridges East and West Coast sensibilities. While Marea loyalists will find comfort in signature dishes like the legendary octopus and bone marrow fusilli, the Beverly Hills menu introduces exciting new offerings that celebrate local ingredients. A standout addition is "The Avocado" – a clever California tribute featuring a torched local avocado filled with spot prawn tartare and kissed with Calabrian chilies and fennel.
The restaurant's design, masterminded by nusla design, strikes a delicate balance between New York sophistication and California's laid-back elegance. The space features a stunning honey onyx bar and a show-stopping hand-crafted Murano blue chandelier, while embracing the West Coast's love for al fresco dining. Art enthusiasts will appreciate the carefully curated collection, including an original oil painting by London artist Nasser Azam paying homage to Sophia Loren.
The wine program, led by Senior Brand Director Francesco Grosso, promises to be as impressive as its New York counterpart, offering both classic and new world selections. Two semi-private dining rooms can accommodate up to 50 guests, making it an ideal venue for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations.
As Beverly Hills prepares to welcome this culinary powerhouse, one can't help but feel that Marea's arrival signals a compelling fusion of East Coast refinement and West Coast vitality. With its combination of proven favorites and location-specific innovations, Marea Beverly Hills seems poised to make as significant a splash in the Los Angeles dining scene as its New York predecessor did over a decade ago.
The restaurant will serve dinner seven days a week from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with lunch service to follow shortly after opening. For Los Angeles's discerning diners, January 16th can't come soon enough.
