All-Star Judging Panel Announced for our inaugural “Forty Under 40 Awards”

Beverly Hills Living magazine is thrilled to announce the distinguished panel of judges for its inaugural “Forty Under 40” Awards presented by Beverly Hills Living Magazine.

This esteemed panel includes Beverly Hills Mayor Julian A. Gold, M.D., #1 luxury real estate agent at Coldwell Banker worldwide Jade Mills, philanthropist and partner at Vibrato Grill & Jazz Eden Alpert, Charles Black III, a luxury realtor at Compass and former Chairman of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, and celebrity makeup artist and author Bobbe Joy Dawson. The "Forty Under 40" awards will honor the most promising and accomplished individuals under the age of 40 in our community across a diverse array of categories. The winners will be unveiled in the September issue of Beverly Hills Living and recognized at an invitation-only awards event on September 21, 2023, in Beverly Hills.

JULIAN A. GOLD M.D., the esteemed Mayor of Beverly Hills, brings a profound depth of knowledge and experience to the judging process. Elected to the Beverly Hills City Council for the first time in 2011, Mayor Gold is now serving his third term as Mayor. His exceptional leadership, coupled with his wealth of civic and medical expertise, is an invaluable asset that greatly enriches the evaluation process. Six years ago, Mayor Gold initiated the Next Beverly Hills committee with a vision to better understand what draws young residents to the city. This committee, a group of talented, next-generation leaders, focuses on innovative initiatives addressing the lifestyle, economic, and civic needs of those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. Chartered by the Mayor and the City of Beverly Hills, the committee seeks to engage all who are interested and inspire them to make Beverly Hills a better place for all. "I am excited to be a judge on the ‘Forty under 40’ panel. What a great opportunity to meet and speak with the next generation of leaders from many different fields. Their vision, energy, and leadership will guide us in the future," said Mayor Gold.

JADE MILLS, the #1 real estate agent worldwide for Coldwell Banker and known as “The Eight Billion Dollar Woman”, Mills will utilize her expertise in the Beverly Hills real estate market and her noble character strengths of integrity, loyalty, and professionalism. Sought out by A-list celebrities, tech founders, and business leaders, Mills will leverage her extensive expertise and discerning eye for success to contribute to the judging process. 

EDEN ALPERT, a partner at Vibrato Grill & Jazz, daughter of legendary musician Herb Alpert, and a dedicated philanthropist brings her deep-rooted understanding of the music industry and unwavering commitment to community service to the panel. Alpert notes, “As a business owner, I have the utmost respect for the hard work, determination and passion required to start your own business. I feel honored to be a part of these awards and will always be a huge advocate for this talented group of Beverly Hills innovators.”

CHARLES BLACK III, is a highly strategic and analytical real estate expert with a long history in luxury marketing. For the past three years, Black was the Principal Agent at Compass, Southern California, utilizing his vast experience, as well as his natural skills of perception and intuition, to actively support fellow agents. His experience as a former Chairman of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Beverly Hills Rotary Club make him a crucial part of the judging process and a respected figure in our community. “I am both honored and delighted to be part of the judging panel for the inaugural 'Forty Under 40 Awards' by Beverly Hills Living Magazine, an initiative that fervently embraces and uplifts the prowess of young, accomplished leaders dedicated to fostering excellence and shaping the future of our region,” Black shared.

BOBBE JOY DAWSON, a renowned celebrity make-up artist and author of “Raising Eyebrows”, established her professional reputation on television and movie sets, perfecting the faces of the famous for unforgiving cameras. She has also shared her face-forward techniques on-air as part of makeover specials for HGTV, Access Hollywood, The Other Half, EXTRA, and The Today Show. She serves on the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is an active member of the Beverly Hills community. “I’m so proud to be a part of this really impressive new generation. Big dreams, hard work, and love for what you do is a bit like karma it will come back to you tenfold,” Dawson noted.

Our distinguished panel of judges will assess candidates based on their social impact, originality, leadership, funds raised, and the jobs created. Nominees will be considered across a range of categories, including Art, Design & Style, Education, Food & Drink, Health & Wellness, Media, Marketing & Advertising, Music & Entertainment, Social Impact & Philanthropy, Sports & Fitness, Sustainability & Energy, Technology, and Professional Services & Investment.
